Methodology
My Coaching Approach
Coaching is not therapy, counselling or advice-giving. Instead, it is a structured and collaborative process that helps individuals gain clarity, develop self-awareness, identify obstacles and take meaningful action towards their goals.
My role is not to tell you what to do. Rather, it is to help you think more clearly, challenge unhelpful assumptions, recognise your strengths and develop practical strategies for moving forward.
I work with professionals, leaders and high performers who want to enhance their effectiveness, navigate challenges with greater confidence, improve performance under pressure, or create a more fulfilling and balanced life.
My coaching style is supportive, challenging and goal-focused. I aim to create a space where you can think openly, explore different perspectives and leave each session with greater clarity and a clear sense of direction.
Unique Value
Why Work With Me?
What makes my approach different is the combination of expertise I bring as both a Consultant Psychiatrist and Coach.
Having spent my career understanding human behaviour, motivation, mental health and performance, I offer a perspective that bridges psychological wellbeing and high performance. Few coaches have extensive experience working as a senior NHS Consultant Psychiatrist, supporting individuals with complex mental health challenges, while also coaching professionals, leaders and high performers.
Alongside my clinical work, I am Medical Director of Smart TMS, Lead Clinical Advisor to Florio Golf, and have worked with professional golfers on the DP World Tour. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the psychological demands of leadership, competition and performing under pressure.
Whether you are seeking to improve your confidence, develop your leadership skills, overcome self-doubt, navigate a career transition, prevent burnout or perform at your best, I bring a unique combination of expertise in mental health, behaviour change, resilience and performance psychology.
My aim is simple: to help you gain insight, unlock your potential and achieve sustainable success without sacrificing your wellbeing.

Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How is coaching different from therapy?
Although there can be some overlap, coaching and therapy have different aims.
Therapy often focuses on understanding and treating mental health difficulties, helping people recover from distress, and making sense of past experiences. Coaching is typically future-focused and centred on growth, performance and achieving specific goals.
Coaching can help you develop greater self-awareness, improve confidence, strengthen leadership skills, navigate career transitions, perform more effectively under pressure and create meaningful change in your personal or professional life.
As both a Consultant Psychiatrist and Coach, I am able to recognise when difficulties may be better addressed through therapy or psychiatric treatment and can discuss this with you if appropriate.
Do I need a mental health diagnosis?
No.
Many people seek coaching not because they have a mental health condition, but because they want to improve their performance, develop as a leader, build confidence, navigate a challenge or achieve a particular goal.
Coaching is suitable for anyone who is looking to grow, develop and make meaningful progress in an area of their life or career.
Are sessions online?
Yes. All coaching sessions are conducted online via secure video call. This provides flexibility and convenience, allowing clients to access coaching from anywhere in the UK or internationally.
How many sessions do people usually have?
There is no fixed number of coaching sessions, as this depends on your goals and circumstances.
Some clients come for a small number of sessions to work through a specific challenge or decision, while others choose a longer-term coaching relationship to support their ongoing personal or professional development.
As a guide, many clients find that between 6 and 12 sessions provides sufficient time to gain insight, implement change and make meaningful progress towards their goals. We will regularly review progress together and decide what feels most useful for you.
